Robert Lewandowski and Lucy Bronze were respectively named the men’s and women’s player of the year at the Best FIFA Football Awards on Thursday.

Bayern Munich striker Lewandowski saw off competition from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to be crowned the best men’s player.

The forward has been in frightening form over the last year, scoring 55 goals and firing Bayern Munich to an impressive treble last season.

He was widely tipped to win the Ballon d’Or this year before it was scrapped amid the pandemic. Lewandowski has continued his form and, since the start of the 2019/20 season, he has scored 73 goals in 64 club games — 22 more than any other men’s player in Europe’s top five leagues.

“This award also belongs to my colleagues, the coach and Bayern Munich in general. It is an incredible feeling, a lot of emotions,” he said.

“If you win such an award and share that title with Messi and Ronaldo, that is unbelievable and it means so much to me. A long time ago, I remember I was longing for something like this and now I can win such an award.”

West Ham cruised to the knockout stages of the Europa Cup and are fourth on the English Premier League table, thanks to the guidance of former Manchester United manager David Moyes.

Although Ayew struggled to establish himself in London, he was a big fan of the Scottish trainer.

“They are doing really well and that is proof that last season wasn’t just a fluke,” he told LondonWorld.com.

“The thing about David Moyes and his coaching team is that he knows how to put the team into a good structure and that is clearly showing and they are winning games.

“I know what it means to the fans to have the team competing with the big boys and playing in Europe.

“But I urge them to continue winning because the Premier League is the best league in the world and the moment you stop winning you get into trouble.

Ghanaian Striker, Raphael Dwamena Set To Retire From Active Football Following His Heart Condition

Ghana striker who plays for BW Linz, Raphael Dwamena will be considering retirement from football after his team terminated his contract, GhanaCNN.com can exclusively report.

The 26-year-old and the Austrian club agreed to mutually part ways following his heart problems, which has affected his career.

Sporting Director of BW Linz, Tino Wawra explained the club can’t afford to risk it anymore and the ex-Levante striker should consider retirement.

“There was an appointment this week when we told him and his management that it was no longer an option for us that he was playing the field for us. The risk is too great for us,” Wawra told LAOLA1.

Waora continued: “We are very sorry for him. Apart from Salzburg, you will not find a player with the quality of healthy Rafael Dwamena in all of Austria. It is a shame that he probably has to consider final retirement now. He is a great man, with a fine personality. That is why the decision has become more difficult for us.”

Dwamena went down in the OFB Cup game against Hartberg after he had a shock from the implanted chip aiding him to play.

He was rushed to the hospital but after subsequent examinations, the two parties came to an agreement to part ways.
