Nana Akufo Addo Is Not Our President – Johnson Asiedu Nketiah Boldly Shout

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said it will not acknowledge Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as Ghana’s president.

Addressing a news conference in Accra on Friday, January 8, 2021, the general secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, said:

“Let me state without any equivocation that the NDC shall not recognize Akufo-Addo as the President of Ghana until all issues surrounding his flawed elections are satisfactorily resolved.”

The flagbearer of the NDC in the 2020 polls, John Dramani Mahama, rejected the outcome of the elections as declared by the chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa.

He filed a petition at the Supreme Court to in his words remove doubts in the minds of Ghanaians over the credibility of the electoral process.

However, a member of the legal team of the NDC and former Deputy Justice Minister in Mahama’s administration, Dr. Dominic Ayine, stated that there was no evidence his former boss won the election. “We never said that we won the presidential election,” he told GHONE television on Thursday, December 31, 2020.

President Akufo-Addo on Thursday, January 7, 2021, took the oath of office for another four-year term. Heads of state from across Africa and dignitaries watch him took the oath at a ceremony in Accra on Thursday, January 7, 2021.

I Won’t Stop Talking: I Am Not A Coward – Captain Smart Makes A Bold Statement

Published

on

Nana Addo and Captain Smart

Captain Smart, the host of Angel FM’s morning show has hit back at one Reginald Seth Dogboe who is believed to be the personal assistant of businessman Alfred Woyome.

Seth Dogboe, according to Captain Smart, had sent a message to him through his colleague Kofi Adoma Nwanwani enumerating what he considers to be falsehoods peddled by Captain Smart on his show.

The statement pointed out that Captain Smart’s claim that the late President Mills on two occasions blocked payment of the monies to Woyome was false.

It furthered that assertions by the radio presenter that Kennedy Agyapong bought copies of the Auditor-General report are untrue.

Reacting to these claims, Captain Smart stated that he cannot be cowed into silence by anyone in the country.

Taking on each point raised by Woyome’s PA, Captain Smart insisted that a plethora of facts exists to validate his submissions and that as far as he is concerned, Woyome befits the labelling of ‘thief’.

“When I do my investigations and it comes out that you are a thief, I will call you a thief. If a court of competent jurisdiction declares [you] as a thief, I will call you a thief until there’s an appeal and you win.

‘You can take me anywhere. You are blockheaded. You claim Professor Mills did not block the payment of the money to Woyome on two occasions, go and check the EOCO report. According to [an] EOCO report, Professor Mills asked that the full payment should not be made until investigations are concluded. Ask your boss why the money was paid through Kwabena Duffour’s bank. I’m daring you to come here so that we debate this.”

“Ask Kennedy Agyapong how he [got] the documents about the payment. You claim the Auditor-General report is falsified, does your uncle work at Auditor-General. Kennedy Agyapong was the first person to speak about the issue on radio and he had to pay a huge amount for the document.”

“You think your boss was the only beneficiary of the judgment debt? Have you forgotten he said that he bought cars for some people only for the people to come out and deny? The nine Supreme Court justices who sat on the case said it was create, loot and share, so your boss had to refund the money. Your boss was found guilty and asked to refund the monies. I don’t know you but if you have any issues, deal with it at home. You can scare any presenter in the country but not me. I was not born to be a coward so you can never intimidate me. We will collect the money from your boss,” he said.

The Supreme Court, on July 29, 2014, ordered Mr Woyome to refund GH¢51.2 million to the state because he got the money out of unconstitutional and invalid contracts between the state and Waterville Holdings Limited in 2006 for the construction of stadia for CAN 2008.

It was the view of the court that the contracts upon which Mr Woyome made and received the claim were in contravention of Article 181 (5) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, which required such contracts to be laid before and approved by Parliament.

Don't Be Too Arrogant To Congratulate Him- NPP Urges Mahama

Former President John Dramani has been urged by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to congratulate President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on his victory in the 2020 presidential election.
“It is not too late for Mr John Mahama to congratulate President Akufo-Addo, whose resounding win in the 2020 election has been confirmed by the Supreme Court.

“It is for this reason that the NPP is urging the former President to act in the national interest,” the party said in a statement signed by its General Secretary, Mr John Boadu.

It urged Mr Mahama, the NDC’s presidential candidate for 2020, to recognize the Supreme Court’s decision on the 2020 Election Petition as a mark of statesmanship and adherence to the rule of law, even though he disagreed with the decision.

Many had expected the petitioner, Mr Mahama, to follow the successful example of the petitioner in the 2012 Election Petition, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who disagreed with the Supreme Court’s decision at the time but acknowledged it and congratulated the then President, Mr Mahama, in the national interest, following the Supreme Court’s judgment on March 4, 2021.

“I have called President John Dramani Mahama and congratulated him on being elected the fourth President of our country,” President Akufo-Addo said after the 2012 election petition, according to the study.

Our nation’s Supreme Court has spoken, and the results of the December 2012 presidential election have been reported as having been won by the NDC’s nominee, President Mahama. As I previously said, I accept the court’s ruling, even though I disagree with it. I agree that the court’s decision puts the election conflict to a close.”

According to the statement, the NPP agreed with Mr Mahama in 2013 when he said, “The Courts cannot give you what the people have not given you.”

According to the statement, Mr Mahama may have missed an opportunity to replicate President Akufo-enviable Addo’s feat of 2013 and have his name written in the history books of consummate and patriotic democrats.

It did say, however, that it was not too late for Mr Mahama to make amends.

It said, “It is not too late for John Mahama to accept his fate and accept the decision of the nation’s Apex Court, even if he disagrees with the judgment.”

Trouble For Mahama As His 2020 Campaign Manager Set To Battle Him In 2024

Published

on

Posters and flyers of Prof. Joshua Alabi, the 2020 campaign manager of the NDC have been circulating on social media.

Prof. Alabi, one of the persons who contested former President Mahama in the last flagbearership primaries of the NDC is set to make another attempt.

The timing of the release of the posters has raised concerns considering the fact that the NDC is going through a turbulent period after having their Election Petition dismissed outrightly by the Supreme Court.

The Party Support base have also lashed out at the leadership of the Parliamentary caucus after they approved some nominees of President Akufo-Addo against the Party’s wishes.
