She Is My Girl,Please Pardon Her- Sammy Gyamfi Begs Akufo-Addo On Behalf Of Akuapem Poloo

Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC’s National Communications Officer and a private legal practitioner, has pleaded with President Akufo-Addo to pardon socialite Akuapem Poloo after she was sentenced to 90 days in prison.

In a social media post, he stated that the judge could have taken into account certain factors before imposing the sentence.

“The sentence handed down to @IamAkuapemPoloo is harsh and harsh. Given that she is a first-time offender who pleaded guilty and demonstrated remorse, a non-custodial sentence would have been appropriate. What a pity! I hope @NAkufoAddo commutes or pardons her sentence. #AkuapemPolooFreedom,” he wrote on Facebook.

Akuapem Poloo was convicted on her own plea by the Circuit Court in Accra on Wednesday after pleading guilty to three charges: publishing obscene materials, engaging in domestic violence, namely conduct that in any way undermines another person’s privacy or integrity, and engaging in domestic violence that in any way detracts or is likely to detract from another person’s dignity and woe.

She was sentenced to 90 days in prison on each count, but the court ruled that the sentences must run concurrently, so she will only serve a three-month sentence of 90 days in jail.

(VIDEO) Akuapem Poloo Finally Breaks Silence After Being Whipped With 90 Dayss Imprisonment

Akuapem Poloo, born Rosemond Brown, has asked Ghanaians to pray for her as she begins her 90-day prison sentence.

Only two hours after her conviction, the actress took to Instagram to thank her fans, saying she is a strong woman.

The social media sensation captioned her post “I love you all,” saying, “Sometimes in life, you have to pass through some things to make you strong to get you somewhere.” I understand that this is a test that I must pass.

“All I need are your prayers and support. “Your girl will return soon,” she said in the brief video.

Akuapem Poloo was sentenced to 90 days in prison by an Accra Circuit Court on Friday for posting a naked picture of her son on Instagram on his seventh birthday in 2020.

Prior to the verdict, the actress pleaded guilty to all three charges and was found guilty on her own plea by a court presided over by Christina Cann. She was later remanded in custody to undergo a pregnancy test prior to her sentencing.

Ghanaians have reacted in a variety of ways in the aftermath of the court’s decision.

While some have called for harsher punishment for the social media sensation in order to deter others from repeating the act, others, particularly social media influencers, have called for the actress to be released or given a less severe punishment.

With the hashtag ‘#FreeAkuapemPoloo’, social media users such as Sarkodie, Efya, Hajia For Real, Akumaa Mama Zimbi and other Ghanaians are flooding social media with alternative punishment for the actress.

Acknowledging the support she garnered, Akuapem Poloo express an enormous gratitude to all those who openly backed her as she went through the tempestuous moment.

She said she was “humbled” by the love and support she gained.
