GES Postpones The Reporting Date For SHS 1 Students

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has declared that first-year Senior High School (SHS) students across the country will return to school from Thursday, March 18 to Sunday, March 21, 2021.

On Wednesday, March 10, 2021, first-year SHS students across the country were supposed to report to school.

The GES has delayed the reopening date to give “students and parents enough time to prepare for classes, while School Management prepares to accept them,” according to the GES.

“Management has also recognized that some students have not yet enrolled, and the extension will allow these students the opportunity to do so as well,” according to a statement released by the GES and signed by its Head, Public Relations Unit, Cassandra Twum Ampofo.

“Academic work will begin in earnest on Monday, March 22nd, 2021.”

Second and third-year SHS students will have a Mid-Semester Break from Monday, March 8, to Thursday, March 11, 2021, according to the announcement.

“The Mid-Semester Break is not mandatory, but students who wish to remain on campus must be fed and follow school rules,” it continued.
