How 5 Pesewas Sent Ghanaian Man To Jail For 12

In another episode of the bad judiciary system brought to the fore by Crime Check TV Gh, the sad tale of a man has shared a young man was sentenced to 12-months imprisonment over a 5pesewas coin.

The story revolves around one Kwabena Boateng who was given a 12-month prison sentence for causing harm to his best friend who used an old 5 pesewas currency, not in use to buy from his shop.

Boateng disclosed that his best friend used the outdated currency to buy cigarettes from his ten-year-old daughter whiles he was away. He says when he got wind of it, he confronted his friend about it.

Here’s the full story;

“Kwabena Boateng has been given a 12-month prison sentence for causing harm to his best friend who used an old 5 pesewas currency, not in use to buy from his shop.

Boateng explains further that his best friend used the outdated currency to buy cigarettes from his ten-year-old daughter whiles he was away. He says when he got wind of it, he confronted his friend about it.

Not happy with Boateng’s approach, the friend pulled a knife. In the ensuing confrontation, the knife slightly cut his friend’s hand.

Boateng was eventually arraigned before court and asked to pay a two thousand cedis fine or in default go to prison for a year. He could not pay so had to endure the psychological stress and the pain of imprisonment.

Not good to take the law into ones’ hands, but at times certain circumstances may push one to make “war” to live in peace. The state could have at least provided a lawyer for Boateng as it is done in other democratic jurisdictions, but poor people hardly get lawyers to defend them in court.

The Legal Aid scheme constitutionally mandated to help the poor and the vulnerable, do not have enough lawyers. Boateng still feels justice was not served in his case as he tearfully narrated the injustice meted out to him.

Fortunately, good a samaritan Ali Ibrahim has paid his fine for him to go home. But for how long will good people continue to pay fines when Parliament could have simply passed the Non-Custodial Sentencing Bill into law? Many thanks Mr. Ali. May Allah richly bless you.”

Captain Smart Slaps A Popular G.a.y Journalist In A Live Interview

Published

A few days ago, Ignatius Annor, a former Metro TV journalist, publicly proclaimed himself to be gay, and he has since embarked on a movement to encourage the acceptance of LGBTQI rights in Ghana.

As the Euronews journalist decided to boycott an interview with Angel FM’s Captain Smart in the middle, his recent media experience did not go too well.

Throughout the interview that lasted a little less than 25 minutes, with each single question asked by the interviewer, the dispute between the two journalists regarding LGBTQI+ promotion became apparent.

On the one side, Ignatius tried to clarify to Captain Smart why it is important for Ghanaians to embrace and tolerate gay people and their activities.

He argued that not all people are heteros*xual, and that certain people are born homos*xual, necessitating the need for a culture that recognizes such people.

He also pointed out to Captain Smart that by claiming that people calling for gay rights acceptance in Ghana were seeking to dilute the country’s cultural set-up, he had taken a worrying stance on the matter.

I don’t know, but if a man says that I have love for another fellow man, or that I have love for another fellow woman, what is the crime here? Here, what is the crime? He was perplexed.

He also pointed out to Captain Smart that by claiming that people calling for gay rights acceptance in Ghana were seeking to dilute the country’s cultural set-up, he had taken a worrying stance on the matter.

“One of the problematic problems for the LGBTQI+ community is your status as a journalist, and your line of questioning isn’t helping matters. That isn’t going to support us,” he said.

Captain Smart then asked the journalist if he identifies as a female or a male, to which Annor replied that he was male.

In his relationship, he further attempted to find out the s*xual role of his interviewee.

I consider your question to be really rude, and I am not going to answer your question. I find your question dehumanizing and insulting because, as a straight man, I did not ask you that question. So that’s not what you should ask me, and it’s very unfortunate. You don’t have the right to ask that question as a human being,” Annor said.

Captain Smart then inquired whether Annor identifies as a female or a male, to which Annor replied that he is a male.

In his relationship, he also tried to figure out what his interviewee’s s*xual position was.

I think your question is very rude, and I will not answer your question. I find your question dehumanizing and disrespectful because I did not ask you that question as a straight man. So that’s not the question you should be asking me, which is unfortunate. As a human being, you do not have the right to ask that question,” Annor said.

Broadcaster Bridget Otoo has boldly claimed that if it takes her to hell to encourage the legalization of LGBTQ in Ghana, then she is ready to dine with Satan.

Like other Ghanaian celebrities, Bridget has a voice in support of creating an organization that will guarantee the protection of the country’s LGBTQ communities.

Celebrities such as Ignatius Annor, Wanluv Kuborlor, Sisiter Derby and more have spoken out against those advocating for LGBTQ offices to be arrested or closed down.

On her twitter page, Bridget Otoo said she was prepared to face something like Satan and hell if her support for the oppressed group would take her to that position.

I’m advised that endorsing #LGBTQI is the fastest and quickest way to make it to hell to sign me up, I’d like to meet Satan!’ she tweeted.
