CK Akonnor Has Me In Mind - Yahaya Mohammed Speaks On Absence In Black Stars List

Aduana Stars forward, Yahaya Mohammed, believes Black Stars coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor has a plan in place to invite him to the Black Stars camp at a later date, which is why he is not included in the initial list of local players.

On Friday, February 12, 2021, CK Akonnor handed out call-ups to 32 home-based players to start camping ahead of next month’s Africa Nations Qualifying Cup against South Africa and Sao Tome.

The former Kotoko striker, responding to his omission from the squad, says he’s surprised to have missed out.

“I was surprised my name was not on the list. Consistency wise, I am always on the list of top scorers for the past seasons in the Ghana Premier League, I know the coach has a plan for me but if not I will be very disappointed. Maybe CK wants me to wait and assess other players before he hands me a call-up. They haven’t spoken to me though. ” he said in an interview

Accra Hearts of Oak’s head coach, Kosta Papic, resigned after only two months in charge of the Ghana Premier League giants.

The 60-year-old made this known to the club at a lengthy board meeting on Monday, 15 February 2021.

The Serbian trainer replaced Edward Odoom for the second time in November 2020 and led the Phobians in 10 matches in the ongoing Ghana Premier League, where he won four, scored three, and lost three.

Papic cited personal reasons for his decision and, on Monday, rejected a number of pleas from the members of the Board to stay.

The team’s physical trainer today conducted the club’s training session. Hearts of Oak must look for a new head coach to take charge of the coaching duties of the first team.

They’re lying 11th on the league log with 17 points, playing 13 games. One less 14 played so far due to the postponement of their week 14 game against Asante Kotoko.

His assistant coach, Joseph Asare Bediako, resigned his post earlier on February 10, citing circumstances beyond his control.
