Speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” programme, Kwesi Pratt Jnr cautioned the Ministers not to lord themselves over the people they are to serve and misbehave in their various offices.
He reminded them of their service to Ghanaians and requested that they think themselves not wiser than Ghanaians.
Mr. Pratt advised the Ministers to put the interest of Ghana first and execute their duties effectively.
“Don’t think because we have made you ministers, you’ve become tarzan today. Nobody is tarzan. They shouldn’t think they are wiser than all Ghanaians, for there are many intelligent Ghanaians who are not Ministers and some who won’t even accept ministerial appointment. So, they should work hard to bring about development; they must do a good work to leave a good legacy,” he stated.
After 2 Month, EC Finally Speaks On Supreme Court Verdict On 2020 Election Petition
The Electoral Commission (EC) has finally spoken up on the verdict of the Supreme Court concerning the 2020 election petition.
The seven-member Supreme Court panel ruled unanimously that while the petitioner (John Dramani Mahama) had legitimate concerns about the results he could not adduce evidence to validate the claims he was making against the EC.
Speaking on Asaase FM, Bossman Asare, deputy chairman of the EC said the court vindicated the work of the commission with their ruling.
“We were relieved right after the election because we know we did the right thing. The [Supreme] Court gave us an international vindication, so for us life is just normal; we have a lot of things, review of the election et cetera that we must engage in,” he said.
“As a Commission, we are doing what we have to do. There are a lot of administrative measures that must be put in place so that in future we’ll continue to be ahead of the game. I think for us we didn’t see the court case as a challenge… we know it’s part of the work and life must go on,” he said.
Are You Aware Of The Ritual Killings In Ghana: You Have Made Ghana Hard – NDC Blast Akufo Addo In A Press Statement
The statement urged President Akufo-Addo to expedite investigations into unsolved crimes committed in the country since he assumed power.
Read the full statement below:
PRESS STATEMENT BY THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS ON THE MURDER OF YOUNG ISHMAEL MENSAH ABDALLAH AT KASOA.
It is with extreme shock and disbelief that the National Democratic Congress received news of the gruesome murder of a ten-year-old boy called Ishmael Mensah Abdallah at Kasoa in the Central Region by his own teenaged acquaintances for ritual purposes.
The Leadership, as well as the entire rank and file of the NDC, join the family and friends and, indeed, the entire nation, in mourning the loss of this young and promising boy much beloved by his family and community.
It is the expectation of the National Democratic Congress that the appropriate authorities will ensure that the bereaved family are comforted by the swiftness of the application of the law to punish the perpetrators and all who may be behind this dastardly murder.
The NDC has taken due notice of the fact that there appears to be a fashionable craze toward the acquisition of quick wealth by many of our countrymen and women and the youth in particular, without the attendant hard, morally sound and lawful means of obtaining the same.
We deem this development as a dangerous trend that has to be condemned and discouraged by all and sundry.
It is a development that the NDC is unquestionably opposed to, or else we risk bequeathing to the youth, a practice and a lifestyle that cannot build this nation.
We further wish to draw the attention of the Akufo-Addo government to the plethora of crimes whose resolution has dragged on interminably, thus, encouraging the perpetuation of the culture of impunity.
We encourage the youth to look out for honest, hardworking, and accomplished persons as their role models.
The wealth that has been improperly obtained, should never be an attraction for the upcoming youth of this great nation.
In this regard, we call on the Akufo-Addo government to speed up investigations and crank the wheels of justice so that the country can rid itself of the odious reminder of this unfortunate event.
May the soul of young Ishmael Mensah Abdallah rest in peace.

Fire In NPP Over Ethnically Charged Campaign For Akufo Addo Successor
The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been caught in a tumultuous in-fighting along tribal lines as sections of the party, led by the NPP Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu is pushing for a Northerner to lead the party in the 2024 Presidential race.
Last week, Kyei Mensah-Bonsu in an interview with Joy News claim there was a sort of convention in the party that they cannot field an Akan for the third time to lead the party, after John Agyekum Kufour-an Ashanti and President Akufo Addo, an Akyem.
“…I think it may not hold well for a party that is accused by some as being overly Akanistic party [to field another Akan],” Mensah-Bonsu said in what clearly exposed his alignment with speculated plans by President Akufo Addo to select his own replacement by fielding his current deputy, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
But, former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko, who is reportedly lacing his boots to bid for the NPP presidential ticket, described Kyei Mensah Bonsu’s statement as nonsensical and “foolish” talk.
“…we are fooling. Why are we disturbing the party? For me, normally, I will not mention names, but I am disappointed with the Majority Leader. Are you [Majority Leader] the one to bring this noise to the party? Agyarko told pro-NPP Oman FM.
Meanwhile, an activist of the ruling party, I. K. Boahen, has pooh-poohed the cult playing psychological mind games to project Dr. Bawumia as the bonafide next in line to President Akufo Addo.
In the write-up Mr. Boahen challenges claims that the NPP gained a lot of votes in the 2020 elections from the Northern parts of Ghana because Bawumia is from the Region, pointing out that the analysis rather showed that the party’s fielding of well-resourced appointees did the trick.
“Most of the seats we won from the Northern sector and currently being occupied by NPP were contested by highly recognized government position holders; people who were at the presidency, were holding CEO positions, were deputy CEOs and or were holding highly influential government positions…So are we saying that but not Bawumia factor, these people didn’t use their positions in any way to help their constituents hence their win to become MP?” Boahene questioned.
“Please let’s think about the above well before we conclude that, Bawumia factor won NPP Northern votes. Let’s critically analyse, before we conclude, otherwise, some will also conclude that, the margin of the high vote in the Ashanti Region is not appreciated by the party, and this is dangerous!!!” he wrote.
Proponents of a Bawumia flagbearership in 2024 have advanced many reasons, including the claim that it would deodorize the NPP’s notorious image as an Akan party.
Others have claimed that so far the baton of the party’s leadership has been juggled around the backgrounds of two out of three founding philosophers of the NPP tradition – Busia and Danquah – and that it is now the turn of the third founding philosopher – Dombo.
As Dombo was a Northerner, Bawumia has been promoted as a representative of the lineage of Dombo. However, I.K. Asante pooh-poohs this. “DMB (Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia) is not a true descendant of Dombo is a fact, which is not debatable because that line and tag can’t be used as an arsenal if the real history is unraveled. Factually, it’s not a reality but just a tag.”
