I will Not Contest In The Name Of NPP IN 2020- Fomena MP Denies Allegations

The 2nd Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Fomena, has denied reports that he is being pressured to declare whether he will run for Parliament on the New Patriotic Party’s ticket (NPP).

Andrew Amoako Asiamah is said to have claimed in an interview that he is under pressure to declare whether he plans to run for the NPP in the 2024 Parliamentary elections.

This, he argues, is untrue.

“The honorable Andrew Amoako Asiamah has not given any media interview since he was sworn in as the 2nd Deputy Speaker of the 8th Parliament on January 7, 2021,” according to the Fomena MP’s Aide, Seth Oduro.

“We would like to state clearly that there was no such interview and that the argument is false and the product of someone’s imagination,” he said.
“We are aware of ongoing efforts to smear the honourable MP’s hard-won image in order to entice him to defect.

“The MP is under no obligation to announce his position on the issue,” he added.

Below is the full statement:

I AM NOT UNDER PRESSURE TO DECLARE WHETHER I WILL CONTEST 2024 ELECTIONS ON THE TICKET OF NPP-FOMENA MP

Our attention has been drawn to, a publication in which  the honorable Member of Parliament and second deputy speaker of Parliament, Andrew Amoako Asiamah is alleged to have stated that he is under pressure to declare whether he intends to contest the 2024 parliamentary elections on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In reality, since being sworn in as the second deputy speaker of the 8th Parliament on January 7,2021, the honorable Andrew Amoako Asiamah has not given any media interviews.

As a result, we’re surprised that a number of portals’ reputations have been tarnished as a result of a fake interview that never took place.

This is not only illegal and unethical, but it also poses a challenge to the country’s fledgling democracy.

We would like to state unequivocally that no such interview occurred, that the claim is false, and that it is the result of someone’s imagination.

We are aware of ongoing efforts to smear the honorable MP’s hard-won image in order to entice him to defect.

The MP is not under any pressure whatsoever to declare his stance on the matter.

Indeed, the constituents who sent him to parliament to represent them as an independent candidate perfectly understand the special circumstances of his election.

They are happy with his performance thus far.

Honourable Andrew Amoako Asiamah is also grateful for the honour done him upon his elevation as second speaker of the August house.

For now, he is busy contributing his quota towards consolidating the constitutional order, the national development agenda as well as the development of Fomena and the Ashanti Region as a whole.

He will not be detracted by those who want him to fail, so they can ride on his shoulders to launch their political carrier.

We urge the good people of Ghana and particularly Fomena constituents to ignore the publication with the contempt it deserves.

Signed…

Seth Oduro
Aide To the Fomena MP

Are You Aware Of The Ritual Killings In Ghana: You Have Made Ghana Hard – NDC Blast Akufo Addo In A Press Statement

In a statement, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) expressed condolences to the family of the ten-year-old boy who was killed by two teenagers at Kasoa for “money ritual purposes.”

The statement urged President Akufo-Addo to expedite investigations into unsolved crimes committed in the country since he assumed power.

PRESS STATEMENT BY THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS ON THE MURDER OF YOUNG ISHMAEL MENSAH ABDALLAH AT KASOA.

It is with extreme shock and disbelief that the National Democratic Congress received news of the gruesome murder of a ten-year-old boy called Ishmael Mensah Abdallah at Kasoa in the Central Region by his own teenaged acquaintances for ritual purposes.

The Leadership, as well as the entire rank and file of the NDC, join the family and friends and, indeed, the entire nation, in mourning the loss of this young and promising boy much beloved by his family and community.

It is the expectation of the National Democratic Congress that the appropriate authorities will ensure that the bereaved family are comforted by the swiftness of the application of the law to punish the perpetrators and all who may be behind this dastardly murder.

The NDC has taken due notice of the fact that there appears to be a fashionable craze toward the acquisition of quick wealth by many of our countrymen and women and the youth in particular, without the attendant hard, morally sound and lawful means of obtaining the same.

We deem this development as a dangerous trend that has to be condemned and discouraged by all and sundry.

It is a development that the NDC is unquestionably opposed to, or else we risk bequeathing to the youth, a practice and a lifestyle that cannot build this nation.

We further wish to draw the attention of the Akufo-Addo government to the plethora of crimes whose resolution has dragged on interminably, thus, encouraging the perpetuation of the culture of impunity.

We encourage the youth to look out for honest, hardworking, and accomplished persons as their role models.

The wealth that has been improperly obtained, should never be an attraction for the upcoming youth of this great nation.

In this regard, we call on the Akufo-Addo government to speed up investigations and crank the wheels of justice so that the country can rid itself of the odious reminder of this unfortunate event.

May the soul of young Ishmael Mensah Abdallah rest in peace.
