On Wednesday, April 7, Okay FM became a battleground as the founder of Glorious Word Power Ministry, Isaac Owusu Bempah, and Baba Jamal, the former Member of Parliament for Akwatia, traded jabs.

In response to Owusu Bempah’s prophecy, Baba Jabal warned that members of the NDC would be forced to attack his pastoral works if he did not stop attacking former President John Dramani Mahama.

An enraged Baba Jamal dismissed Owusu Bempah’s prophecy that the former president is cursed and will be unable to run for re-election in the future unless the spell is broken.

“I have told him several times that if he doesn’t stop mentioning John Mahama’s name, we will also force our way into his pastoral work. All I want to tell him is that he should take his prophecy and we will focus on our politics.

Reacting to the comment by Baba Jamal on the same programme, Owusu Bempah reprimanded the ex-MP for attacking his prophecies.

He noted that Baba Jamal has developed a habit of attacking him and cautioned that he is not the only person allowed to criticise politicians.

“I want him (Baba Jamal) to understand that the country does not belong to him. If he can express his opinion on any president then everyone can. Is he saying we cannot say anything about the former president? I haven’t said that he (John Mahama) has been cursed. I’m just saying there are certain things he must perform to ensure that he wins the election.

“There is something called ancestral curse. Some people are suffering from curses from their grandparents. What is wrong if I say this. I don’t know what I have done to warrant insult from people.

“Baba Jamal, If you are a Muslim, focus on your Islam. Don’t bring it into my pastoral activities. What power do you have to veer into my pastoral life. You have no such power. You have attacked me so many times and I have ignored you but be careful? If you insult me, I will respond. Is there something wrong with your brain? You are a stupid man,” he blurted.

A leading spiritualist, Nana Kweku Bonsam, has slammed ritualists who engage in activities such as “money doubling” and the promise of infinite riches known as “pocket-no-dry.”

He referred to such individuals as scammers and advised the general public to avoid using their services because what they claimed to do was non-existent.

GhanaCNN monitored his appearances on Accra-based Joy FM’s Friday night news program, Ghana Connects, during which he addressed a variety of issues relating to the role that ritualism plays in genuinely improving people’s lives.

“I use animals; I use maybe chicken, guinea fowl, dove, cow, sheep to do it. I could never ask anyone to go and do something bad to another person to bring human blood or do anything of the sort.

“Even in my shrine, I do not do ‘double money’ or ‘pocket no dry.’ There is no double money or pocket no dry in this world. If any one says I will do double money or pocket no dry, note that there is no such thing in this world.”

Per his diagnosis, some television networks and social media platforms were complicit in promoting the illicit and deadly activities of these charlatans.

“… people are using it and showing it on the television and social media and they have some supporters like some media houses who advertise the services of such persons.

“I have a TV station but I can’t pay my monthly services because it is higher but those people who do the charm, double money and pocket no dry, they are always paying. We don’t have the money to pay because we are not engaged in scam,” he added.

A week ago, reports emerged from the Lamptey Mills area in Kasoa that two teenage boys had allegedly murdered an 11-year-old Ishmael Mensah after violently attacking him in an uncompleted building.

Police arrested the duo and have since processed them before the courts while the body of the deceased was also released to the family for burial last Wednesday.

According to police prosecutors, the main motive of the two accused was to use the victim for money rituals. The said priestess who reportedly demanded that they bring human parts for the sacrifice was also arrested during the week.

The incident has triggered a national debate on how society glorifies wealth on one hand and the role especially of the media in promoting the activities of spiritualists.

According to Prophet Benjamin Nana Yaw Osei Tutu, General Overseer of Yehowa Beye Prayer Ministry, if former President John Dramani Mahama wins the 2024 elections, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will rule Ghana for 16 years.

Speaking on Rainbow radio, the man of God stated that Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu will follow in the footsteps of John Mahama after he completes his term.

“If Mr. Mahama serves his term, Haruna Iddrisu will follow. I saw him holding the flag of Ghana in his hands. The presidency would be in the hands of the people from the Northern region and the NDC for 16 years.”

According to him, the only way for the NPP to avoid defeat in 2024 is for him to forfeit the Presidential Primaries and allow Bawumia to succeed Akufo-Addo.

He stated that President Akufo-Addo must step down in order for his Vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to take over if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) wishes to extend its eight-year term.

Meanwhile, Rev. Owusu Bempah was in the news after he said that former president John Dramani Mahama will never be president again in Ghana.
