Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu Sends A Strong Warning To The Majority Members Of Parliament

Minority Leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu has served notice that it will, from henceforth, ensure that decisions taken in the House will be by voting.

Alternatively, he said that the Minority will insist on minimum headcounts.

Haruna Iddrisu made this known when the Minority addressed the press after Parliament approved the 2022 budget in his side’s absence.

For him “cooperation has suffered” and therefore, the Minority will take a cue from it and be advised accordingly.

“Let me warn, that from tomorrow, every other decision of parliament will be by voting. From tomorrow, every other decision of parliament, We will insist on a minimum number of headcount. At appropriation of estimates, we will vote on them,” Haruna Iddrisu warned.

The Minority leader said that “if this is the way they [Majority] want us to walk, we are very capable of walking with them.”

His reacton comes after the Majority side approved the 2022 budget with 138 headcounts including the sit-in speaker, Joe Osei Owusu.

Akufo-Addo’s Chair Is Assigned To A V8 Car With A Bodyguard – Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe

Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe, an aide to former president John Dramani Mahama says he was shocked to witness President Akufo-Addo’s chair being transported in a dedicated V8 with a bodyguard and a driver.

Speaking on Metro TV he said he initially did not believe reports that the President’s chair was always transported in a dedicated vehicle thinking it was politics as usual.

However, at a funeral of a Supreme Court Justice, he personally witnessed the chair being moved in a dedicated V8 and had the shock of his life.

“The President assigns V8 to carry his chair. In fact, initially, I thought it was not true until I saw it. The first time when I saw it myself I was shocked, (it was) at the burial grounds of a retired Supreme Court judge.

“I went with John Mahama, when the president came, obviously he is the last person to come. A whole V8 is dedicated to a chair, with the driver and a guard. That whole V8 is assigned to carrying the President’s chair,” he lamented.

Akufo Addo's Government Plans to Send Military Into Parliament to Force E-Levy on NDC MPs

Akufo Addo’s Government Plans to Send Military Into Parliament to Force E-Levy on NDC MPs

The Executive Director for the Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA), Mensah Thompson, has alleged that the government is bent on passing the 1.75% Electronic Levy (E-Levy) by using the military to enforce this.

He alleges that the government intends to force the hand of the law-making body to approve the controversial E-Levy, even if it means using the soldiers to physically the National Democratic Congress MPs.

“My sources at the Jubilee house contacted me again yesterday and the information is simple, they have resolved to pass the e-levy at all cost when Parliament resumes. In fact, they intend to send the military to Parliament again when the e-levy debate degenerates into a scuffle and their plan is to assault the NDC MPs if they attempt to resist like the other time,” he alleged.

Mensah Thompson made this known in a Facebook post, adding that there is the need for members of the Minority to be on guard.

He also questioned what the fear is with the government returning to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) if the need be.

“The Minority must be on their guard, the plan for the e-levy is big, they intend to pass it all cost or they have to go to the IMF and that is exactly what they don’t want.

“But the question is why are they sooo afraid of going to the IMF?, some people have said oh, they don’t like the propaganda or they don’t want to feel ashamed for taking us back to the IMF…

“Ghanaians Paa, smh!!… For how long would we understand that these guys are shameless and they don’t give a shit about your propaganda?” his post said.

It will be recalled that a year ago, when this parliament was being constituted, chaos broke out on the floor of the chamber, leading to some military men invading the House.
