Black Stars Coach, Milovan Rajevac Reveals Reason Behind Algeria Friendly

The Black Stars Ghana coach, Milovan Rajevac says playing a friendly against Algeria will give the Black Stars an idea of how to confront North African side Morocco in the opening game of Group C at the AFCON 2021.

The Serbian trainer confirmed the Black Stars will play Algeria in a friendly in Qatar before traveling to Cameroon for the Nations Cup.

Milovan Rajevac released his 30-man provisional for the tournament on Tuesday at a press conference in Accra and while speaking to Citi FM, he explained the reason for the friendly.

“The reason is very simple, we play against Morocco in the first game, and we need to play a team that has a similar approach to football,” he said.

“Before the World Cup in 2010, we played against Bosnia because we had a game against Serbia and so it is the same reason for choosing Algeria. We need to familiarise ourselves with such teams. Also, because I have coached there before, I know the team very well,” added the Serbian trainer.
