Johnnie Hughes Condemned For Referring To A Short Immigration Officer As Kapoipoi

Johnnie Hughes Condemned For Referring To A Short Immigration Officer As Kapoipoi

A critic in the entertainment space, Fred Kyei Mensah has taken on Broadcast Journalist Johnnie Berresford Hughes for referring to a ‘short’ Immigration Officer as ‘kapoipoi’.

Johnnie Hughes in one of his exposès on the Immigration Service refered to a short officer as Kapoipoi.

He could not fathom how and why the said officer made it into the service considering the fact that several people were disqualified due to their height.

To him, it smacks of corruption since such an individual challenged with height should not have made it to the service.

But reacting to Johnnie Hughes’ rants, Fred Kyei Mensah condemned Johnnie Hughes for refering to the officer as Kapoipoi.

To him, the TV3 Morning Show host could have used a better deacription for the young man.

LET’S TREAD CAUTIOUSLY.

I chanced upon a video this morning on my nephew, Kwasi Osei-Danso Ofori-Atta Facebook page and, watched an exposé on the Ghana Immigration Service about the selection or recruitment procedures adopted by them by the indefatigable brother of mine, Johnnie Beresford Hughes of TV3 on his program, “Johnnies Bite. Ordinarily, i would have called him behind the scenes to “spank” him but since he brought it in the public domain, i need to also address it here. No malice intended anyemi.

In doing so, he described and referred to one successful applicant to the Ghana Immigration Service as “kapoepoe” that is the parlance used in describing “little people” which i find a bit demeaning looking at the body language he Johnnie used in referring to him live on TV3.

Recently, a friend of mine, Anthony Osarfo, shared his experience in the USA when he referred to the “little people” there in an interview as “diminutive”. They didn’t take it lightly and he had to apologize unreservedly.

From my little research, people of such heights, are recruited into the security service, based on certain “special and professional” occupations they have. For example, a prolific instrumentalist, a medical doctor or any other person in a specialized field, can be engaged in the security service without recourse to their height. I stand for correction.

I don’t think, this guy who didn’t recruit himself into the Immigration Service, needs not to be humiliated like this on tv. At least, his face, could have been covered to avoid such societal name calling. He didn’t chose his height when he was born.

Johnnie my brother, next time ⌚, bite gently because some of us will tell you as it is since some of us want you to succeed. Kindly render an unqualified apology to the person you referred to as “kapoepoe”. Oyiwala don, me daase and thank you.
